but keep in mind that back then there was no GTR, there was the Skyline, but that was only sold in Japan, and the Z was superior in performance. That's why reviewers in the US compared it to Porsches and Corvettes. The main reason why Nissan will not release a TT version of the Z is because we now have the GTR, yes it could be a detuned, cheaper version of the GTR but it would still be a direct competitor, also price wise this detuned version of the Z will be only a few thousands cheaper than the GTR making buyers go for the better performer. Nissan has raised the bar pretty high with the GTR, and the only way the Z is going to return to its former glory its if they either drop the GTR (which is highly unlikely) or if they put as much R&D on the Z as they did on the GTR and produce a Z that will outperform, and cost more than the GTR (which is unlikely but a more feasible option in the long run). Just my .02 cents
